above, his tea and mouse.
it was the highlight of my day. thanks, buddy.

to all of the whoms it may ever concern: comments are working.
that is all.

I just got your message baby
So sad to see you fade away
What in the world is this feeling?
Catch a breath and leave me reeling
It'll get you in the end it's god's revenge
Oh I know I should come clean
But I prefer to deceive
Every day I walk alone
and pray that god won't see me
I know it's wrong, I know it's wrong
Tell me why is it I'm digging your scene
I know I'll die, baby
They put you in a home to fill in
But I wouldn't call that living
I'm like a boy among men
I'd like a permanent friend
I'd like to think that I was just myself again
Oh tell me why is it I'm digging your scene
I know I'll die, baby
I just got your message baby
So sad to see you fade away
I'm like a boy among men
I'd like a permanent friend
I'd like to think that I was just myself again
Oh tell me why is it I'm digging your scene
I know I'll die, baby
Oh tell me why is it I'm digging your scene
I know I'll die, baby
Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, dear
And it shows them pearly white
Just a jackknife has old MacHeath, babe
And he keeps it … ah … out of sight.
Ya know when that shark bites, with his teeth, babe
Scarlet billows start to spread
Fancy gloves, though, wears old MacHeath, babe
So there’s nevah, nevah a trace of red.
Now on the sidewalk … uuh, huh … whoo … sunny mornin’ … uuh, huh
Lies a body just oozin' life … eeek!
And someone’s sneakin' ‘round the corner
Could that someone be Mack the Knife?
A-there's a tugboat … huh, huh, huh … down by the river don’tcha know
Where a cement bag’s just a'droopin' on down
Oh, that cement is just, it's there for the weight, dear
Five'll get ya ten old Macky’s back in town.
Now, d'ja hear ‘bout Louie Miller? He disappeared, babe
After drawin' out all his hard-earned cash
And now MacHeath spends just like a sailor
Could it be our boy's done somethin' rash?
Now … Jenny Diver … ho, ho … yeah … Sukey Tawdry
Ooh … Miss Lotte Lenya and old Lucy Brown
Oh, the line forms on the right, babe
Now that Macky’s back in town.
Aah … I said Jenny Diver … whoa … Sukey Tawdry
Look out to Miss Lotte Lenya and old Lucy Brown
Yes, that line forms on the right, babe
Now that Macky’s back in town …
Look out … old Macky is back!!

radiohead
i am the key to the lock in your house
that keeps your toys in the basement
and if you get too far inside
you'll only see my reflection
it's always best with the covers up
i am the pick in the ice
do not cry out or hit the alarm
you know we're friends till we die
and either way you turn, I'll be there
open up your skull, I'll be there
climbing up the walls
it's always best when the light is off
it's always better on the outside
fifteen blows to the back of your head
fifteen blows to your mind
so lock the kids up safe tonight
shut the eyes in the cupboard
i've got the smile of a local man
who's got the loneliest feeling
that either way you turn, I'll be there
open up your skull and I'll be there
climbing up the walls
climbing up the walls
climbing up the walls
guess this means i need a lyrics category

lyrics by kurt weill
i've been searching through rains
and the wind that follows after
for one certain face
and an unforgotten laughter
i've been following signs
i've been searching through the lands
for a certain pair of arms
and a certain pair of hands
yes, i tried a kiss here
and i tried a kiss there
for when you're out in company
the boys and girls will pair
but it never was you
it never was anywhere you
an occasional sunset reminded me
or a flower hanging high on a julep tree
or one red star hung low in the west
or a heart-break call from a meadow lark's nest
made me think for a moment
maybe its true
i found him in the star
in the call
in the blue
but it never was you
it never was anywhere you
anywhere, anywhere you
if i continue to post lyrics i'll create a category. if this is a passing fancy, i won't

the big excitement these days is the washington state ferry system's wireless service. yes folks, i am sitting on a ferry in the middle (or thereabouts) of puget sound typing this.
i'm also listening to a re-mix of 'round midnight courtesy of gotan project on my ipod.
here's the photo i took from my seat

from a pal at work: "thrives on chaos"
update
my old indian name, for those who asked, is: "runs with scissors"
backstory
when i lived in tampa, i had a t-shirt with the "runs with scissors" phrase. i find the two sentiments similiar. mum pointed out, before i moved, that i'd be the same person in seattle that i was in tampa. so, i find this to be an affirmation of her comment + some growth. especially since i no longer run with scissors but still love the unexpected, change and making sense of stuff which vexes some. (tmi)

somehow, these lyrics are much more palatable than when sung by frank sinatra. who knows why. just read on.
giving credit where credit is due...lyrics by: burt bacharach
hey, little girl
comb your hair
fix your make-up
soon he will open the door
don't think because there's a ring on your finger
you needn't try any more
for wives should always be lovers too
run to his arms the moment that he comes home to you
I'm warning you
day after day
there are girls at the office and the men will always be men
don't stand him up
with your hair still in curlers
you may not see him again
wives should always be lovers too
run to his arms the moment he comes home to you
he's almost here
hey, little girl
better wear something pretty
something you wear to go to the city
dim all the lights
pour the wine
start the music
time to get ready for love
yes, i have the song as sung by bessie smith, janis joplin and, see previous post, madeleine peyroux. i'm just that way.
love, oh love, oh careless love,
you've fly though my head like wine
you've wrecked the life
of many a poor girl
and you nearly spoiled this life of mine
love, oh love, oh careless love,
in your clutches of desire
you've made me break a many true vow
then you set my very soul on fire
love, oh love, oh careless love,
all my happiness bereft
cause you've filled my heart with weary old blues
now I'm walkin' talkin' to myself
love, oh love, oh careless love,
trusted you now it's too late
you've made me throw my old friend down
that's why I sing this song of hate
love, oh love, oh careless love,
night and day I weep and moan
you brought the wrong man into this life of mine
for my sins till judgement I'll atone

i love the railroads in seattle.
railroad cars and tracks remind me of counting cars with my grandad bailey in coraoplis, while sitting on the porch of the house on 6th ave.

about a boy :: a minor incident
there's nothing I could say
to make you try to feel ok
and nothing you could do
to stop me feeling the way I do
and if the chance should happen
that I never see you again
just remember that I'll always love you
i'd be a better person
on the other side I'm sure
you'd find a way to help yourself
and find another door
to shrug off minor incidents
and make us both feel proud
i just wish I could be there
to see you through
you always were the one
to make us stand out in a crowd
though every once upon a while
your head was in the cloud
there's nothing you could never do
to ever let me down
and remember that I'll always love you

in the interim, the question of the day is:
am i satisfying the expectations i had in my 20's?
