That is some serious fun. There are two books called "Linear Algebra and its Applications." I used the one by Gilbert Strang. His lectures on linear algebra are available on MIT's open courseware site.
thanks for the pointer and, as it turns out, confirmation!!! i have a copy of strang's book. i have 'graph theory with applications' (j.a. bond) and 'introduction to graph theory' (robin wilson).
i leave for chicago on thursday, so i have my reading for the plane.
