i'm a sucker for windows

what about protestant seamen?

monday night football, seattle style.
below, a portion of the 'chef's choice' from shiro's and a beer.

note: the tamago is my standing choice for dessert.

amy, d., blondie and mahoney...if you ever make it out this way...
we'll have a drink or two at two bells...

and one of my favorite snapshots is behind the cut.
sometimes, comfort food helps.
until friday, i had never been to top pot doughnuts.
nothing better than a chocolate glazed old fashioned in my book.

staged but not a ransom note.

nothing but cumbs and crumpled nakpkins.
must clean the glaze from the corners of my mouth and finger tips.

love the bauhaus design of the shop. thank-you walter gropius!

of course, in seattle this was not found in front of a coffee shop.

congratulations, jenn!

jenn read during the seattle spit at the wildrose. nice work, jenn.
the snapshots i took were awful, trust me. so make due with this one.

and no, pittsburgh is not 'east coast'. some may be inclined to argue it's not even in the northeast but i disagree. well, at least pittsburgh is not in the mid-west like, say, columbus.

tracy, you missed this by two days. yes, the scaffolding is still up. sure, it's hazy.
at the same time, the wrap is off and the sun is out.

pie and paella night at jenn's.

photo taken and posted at jenn's request.

two, three, four days...more days is okay.
two, three, four nights...more nights is alright.

unfortunately, no windmill holes. curses!

a round of golf often cures my ailments.
both of these 'installations' are by a friend who works at a snowboard/skateshop near the ferry terminal.

another week, another 'incident'.
the ferry approaching the bainbridge island terminal.

anhl capured this veiled moment during dinner at veil.

nothing quite like walking on to the washington state ferry system carring this:

deanna, this is a sacrifice i would make only for you.
experimental music night at the baltic room with anhl and babs!

the approach to the fremont bridge
is being torn down. oddly, the bridge will remain open during the construction. oh, and seattle is home to five, count 'em, five! bascule bridges.

jenn and her camera strike again.
muy caliente!

this was a good day. fremont on saturday, the morning after g's 'moving to maine' debauchery.
spring in seattle: sunny, windy and chilly. haircut at rudy's, waxing with the stern vietnamese ladies, lunch at baguette box with lefty, a surprise call from amymo and shoes. pointy shoes.

snapshots from march. temple billiards with the gals just before heading out to hear a very bad dj.

emma's tail while she's busy with a bone.

"Steve Austin, astronaut, a man barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him, we have the technology. We have the capability to make the worlds first Bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better. Stronger. Faster."
spent a fabulous day at snoqualmie pass with my pallies. a bit of an akward end, but i'll be back soon.

pallie from chicago saw ice on the river on wednesday morning.

i took the 7:05 boat in and saw a beautiful sunrise.

red sky at night, sailor's delight
red sky at morning, sailor's take warning
that proverb reminds me of my grandmother. and shakespeare.
congratulations on your new bambino brian!

dinner with pals, the night before thanksgiving

i like this one better than ck's post

a whole lot of great food came out of these two pots

anh hates to have her photo taken, which is odd since...

david has a great eye.

ck an onion and a knife. only good things happen.

louis.

i finished reading 'Julie and Julia' and thought it might be fun to put a bit more context to Julie's experience. I've never had a copy of 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking', so this seems like as good a time as any to take a peek.
note: there is a somewhat obvious joke in this post, but i'll refrain.
three of the five members of the howard fishman quartet, and one audience member, in a photo booth.
nope. that's not a typo.

yesterday, walsh was a champ and took the day off to hang with me and bellandi!
we headed to the museum...

happy birthday, pops!

i hope you remembered to burp me after this feeding!
i'm always surprised to be reminded of clb's resemblance to you. i posted a snapshot of me, you, clb and smb sr. at the house on 6th ave. so check out the link below...
starting a day trip to san jose.

this photo is blurry and by the time i returned home, i was too. i'd been awake for > 24 hours for the thrid time in three weeks. who needs sleep anyway?

no, i'm not reading homer. i'm listening to death cab for cutie as i post this.
that tbt hoo-ha is going to be some fun.

after much preparation and planning, area 51 is secure and ready for the masses. queue the soundtrack!

anne, a.k.a. nikon queen, shoots herself in the finger....

happy birthday, pallie!

...your daughter has a really cool gig!

apparently all you really need to fight a kitchen fire is a digital camera, a rag and a smile.

discover the olds feeling, the wonderful feeling of oldsmobile!
all the flair and dash of a sports car. new, easier power steering and airscoop brakes! famous rocket performance. for '55 this oldsmobility is yours in both a sports sedan and a scenic coupe.

walking home from the ferry terminal: a beautifully restored ford convertible

"silent gratitude isn't very much use to anyone"
"it's not the tragedies that kill us, it's the messes"

wow. how can you beat this commute?

people watching in san jose. the guy in the background (far) just polished off five of seven.

stella: we've become a race of peeping toms. what people ought to do is get outside their own house and look in for a change. yes sir. how's that for a bit of homespun philosophy?
jeff: readers digest, april 1939.
stella: well, i only quote from the best.

saturday night i was lucky enough to have supper with debbie and peter. a nice, relaxing night getting to know new friends. peter prepared a wonderful meal. while he said it was the first time he made paella, i'm skeptical ;-) best first attempt at paella i've ever had!
2:something in the blessed a.m. is much too early to be awake on a monday morning.

a couple of snapshots on the way home to seattle from phoenix.
wait for it. wait for it.

neither cori or i had ever climbed the rock walls. we stood in line with 5-6 children under the age of 10, considering the possibility of embarrassment.

update: flat stanley has returned safely to iowa. that is all.

anti-clockwise, bottom center
samantha, grandmum mcneish, nana graham, mum, grandmum buckley

i believe my grandmother was pregnant with my mum when this snapshot was taken.
hey, jill! where is the beer?
it's not like this was the only map she had in her purse. no. she had a map of the state, a map of disney, and (i'm fairly certain) a map of epcot (just in case).
once we realized she was comfortable with her map(s) we let it go. until now.

i have no memory of taking this photo. none. or the guest star. bueller? bueller?

florida = danger.
okay. it was a stuffed gator at a truck stop.

well, there's trouble. insipired by rondeaux.

time to go home?
julia, looking out at the atlantic beyond the fort.

i don't count on many people, richter being one exception.

right in front of the fort in st. augustine. about the time i took this photo i'd finally figured out how much i miss julia. and how lucky babs and i are to have her in our life. cheers.

my mother doing her best jackie o. impression.

tomorrowland
the entrance to tomorrowland, looking up.

gas station
we've stopped at a gas station off of i-75, near ocala. laura will likely kill me for posting this one. heh.
shortly after this photo was taken we saw emergency evacuation vehicles heading towards ocala, which we had just passed. laura was curious about whether or not we should continue to st. augustine. julia and i explained that, in florida, you're in trouble if the evacuation squade heading in the same direction as you. laura bought it.

primary fuel: whiskey, tequila and beer. enough said.
the howard franklin bridge (frankenstein) from tampa bay.
oh, and by the way dt, the water really is 30-40 feet deep. thanks for the confirmation by way of mike's loran.

old cigar factory building

despite the 'school night' jenn and i went to see brazilian girls at chop suey. well, we didn't see the band but we did have a good time and a good chat.

a couple of snapshots from the evening...

the moon was huge and hanging over the olympics this morning.
unfortunately, i was carrying the cannon. i was not carrying the d70.

best i could do without snow. no people, though. while i am trying to take snapshots with people, i think the difficulty of taking a shot on the afternoon commute without a single soul in the frame should be noted and appreciated.

ck: note the aspect ratio. also, there's a person in the foreground.

the bottom of the space needle, from the car on the way to work

the sunlight was stunning, especially for february in seattle

from blackbird bakery

above, his tea and mouse.
it was the highlight of my day. thanks, buddy.

if you are humming the green acres theme, you are a friend of mine

i love the railroads in seattle.
railroad cars and tracks remind me of counting cars with my grandad bailey in coraoplis, while sitting on the porch of the house on 6th ave.

starting a night out with pallies lefty, cek, and 'dave'.

found this on the counter after babs' night out with the girls. hmmm.

forecast calls for snow tonight. this is the frost in the morning, before the rain.

hostess bakery...in the morning on the way to work.

okay. technically, i'm cheating but i do love this photo of babs at loveland pass in colorado.
